A Passing

A Passing -
I started this show because I love music. I have never been very good at writing lyrics, unless it was something that really affected my life directly. There were only two songs I wrote all the lyrics to, both were about Amy.

Amy by Tenderfoot_Tim | iCompositions - Music

So Much Stronger by Tenderfoot_Tim | iCompositions - Music

Amy and I were very close. We met long ago when we were in our mid 20's. She was a loving mother of two. She was silly, fun, honest and worked harder than you can imagine to make sure her children were well cared for, and they always were. Sadly, Amy passed away on Thanksgiving, suddenly due to illness. My thoughts and prayers go out to her children, family and friends. I wanted to do a special show last Tuesday but was just not there yet. Coral did an outstanding job doing a special 1 hour, of fun, music & poetry. I want to thank her for such a kind gesture that means a great deal to me. Poetry was part of Amy's life. Enjoy this special one hour. I will return next week with Coral.
You can download this show here.

Next week we will be having featuring a local group, Sweet Jam. I will be posting more on them shortly. We are also planning a Reggae show soon, so send in your tunes. We have had allot of musicians and bands submitting their works, and we encourage people to continue.

Feter McBlues On Free Radio Santa Cruz

We are proud to have feature Feter McBlues on Free Radio Santa. Feter makes music that truly breaks down borders. Feter collaborates daily with other musicians around the globe from Syria.

http://www.macjams.com/artist/Feter

Feter fled to Syria after the war broke out in Iraq. His dream after loosing everything to the war and forced to flee Iraq for his own safety, to come to America. He has a deep love for 60's music, folk, blues, rock and classical. He has over 70 songs on Macjams.

Feter is a rare forgiving compassionate person I am proud to have as a new friend. He has consistently reminded and reinforced how small this world truly is to me. His attitude and optimism is truly something that amazes me.

Feter is working on a new CD due to come out in 2010, a collection of folk songs with a special flavor, Feter and Roxy Lee 'Love Love Love'

There are dozens of collaborators on the hour of music below. although we mention many of them, there was no time to mention them all. I will be adding a list of tracks and all the collaborators over the next 24 hours as well as links to every song. Enjoy!'

Archive is Below. Crank up the Volume!!

You can download the archive Click here, or just hover your mouse over either link and hit "Save Link" -- or listen below. I will be adding the show to our regular archives very soon.

Tuesday November 10th 2009
Christian Raphael

The Music of will be featured this Tuesday Nov 3rd on Free Radio Santa Cruz between 7-8pm. He will also be calling in as guest. We look forward to sharing his music with you and talking to him about "Songs That Really Happened" and learning more about what he is up to these days.

Last month he sent us the message below. This is what part of what music and this show is about.
He speaks of collaborating in a sense, as many of you do to make your music. Tune in this upcoming Tuesday.

Christian Raphael & Songs That Really Happened

Good evening good people around the world. As a reminder, the purpose of Free Downloads of “Songs That Really Happened”™ is to spread positive vibes around the planet at ZERO cost to the listener. That’s right, NO COST to the listener. You will never be spammed.

This is a major 180-degree difference between what we are doing and what the major record labels are doing. We can do this for free because our overhead costs are next to nothing.

Just Imagine, if one itty bitty bit of a lyric from “Songs That Really Happened” ™ inspired someone to do something positive for someone else, and they caught the idea that it was GIVEN to them at zero cost, then slowly the over-all calibration of the human goodness quotient would rise, and we’d start a chain reaction of goodness that couldn’t be stopped. It's like people helping people helping people. Geeez, what a concept.

I am asking for your help—no I do not want money. What I want is for each of you to invite at least 10 people to join, and go out and download “Songs That Really Happened” ™. Tell them to invite at least 10 of their friends to do so too.

So far, “Songs That Really Happened” ™ have been downloaded in over 65 Countries around the world. Keep checking back on the home page of the group for new updates. The group has been running for about 6 months now.

Have a wonderful day friend, and go do something nice for a stranger (where I come from we call them a friend we’ve yet to meet).

October 20th Show Archives

Tuesday October 20th show

I would like to thank Shadowofnine for giving us such a great hour of independent music. More info on Shadowofnine is in posts below. I seemed to be cursed each time I play this fine hour of music. We had a small hiccup during the first 5 min and had to switch CD players. Uncle D from The Cream to The Dregs called to assist and tell me all the in and outs and glitches of our many CD Players. I appreciated his help as a new host.

Posted in the archives is 6-7pm Twilight Hour where we introduced Feter McBlues, The Raging Grannies and local jazz group Barbra Lopez off the CD Play It Again.

Thank you JL from Mugshots for trying out our chat which we were testing last night. We had little time to respond but we appreciate him taking the time. Others were trying to chat and I appreciate that too.
The normal hour was brought to us by ShadowofNine and you can find this hour below. He produces a great podcast of independent musicians. I have it in his original format, mp4, and the MP3 from last night. All of these will be posted soon if you do not seem them all now.

The Pre show Twilight Hour is up. It includes Crissew - Bad day to stop Drinking, the entire interview from NPR 360 on Feter McBlues, 3 songs from Feter, Songs from the Raging Grannies and Barbra Lopez as well as the introduction to the regular show. Click here for show. You can right click and save this file as an mp3 or click to play.

The Shadow Hour - Click here - this is the untarnished hour he sent in, which I suggest for listening, it is what he presented to us. There is some really great music very well put together. I particularly liked a band that sounded like Yes. I am going to have to find out more about them. Will be posting an archive which includes our lead in and my tech problem in all its glory as broadcast! Missing is basically five minutes of music due to a glitch in a semi new/used CD Player that seems to hate me on some deep personal level. I am severing my relationship with that player. Archives will also appear under on the left sidebar when completed. I would like to thank Coral Reef my host, friend and the person who has been training me.

Peace All
Tim & Coral

Upcoming Show Tuesday Oct 20th

Tuesday 6-8pm

This week during the normal 7-8pm slot we will be channeling ShadowonNine as we had planned last week. ShadowofNine put together an entire hour of Independent Music for Free Radio Santa Cruz and our show. ShadowofNine is a musician, pod-caster, musical wizard and supporter of independent music who lives in British Columbia. Tune in and join us for this musical journey where he subtly answers the question we subtly posed "What is Music?" Tuesday 7-8pm!

Tune in early from 6-7 pm. Coral and I will be chatting about upcoming shows, playing a few songs from musicians to be featured soon as well as the Raging Grannies who Coral interviewed and recorded live in the studio early this week. Included was Jan Harwood.

Also Included will be Feter McBlues who is currently living in Syria as a refugee after having to leave his home in Baghdad during the war. Sometimes referred to as the Blues man of Baghdad. McBlues is a great Blues and Folk artist who has taken the time to chat with us from 8,000 miles away. He collaborates with musicians in the U.S and all over the world.

"In simple words -- I' m a Folk Blues musician from Iraq
( a refugee in Syria ) now ...I 'I've been collaborating
with American musicians. I did many professional
projects including two CDs with Ian Beardsley from ,Ca
http://mysite.verizon.net/res8ydyw/theraintroubadoures/index.html
beside many individual projects with other musicians."

He truly makes music that breaks down borders. McBlues is a Singer, songwriter, guitarist and mandolin player and just a fine human being. We look forward to doing a show on McBlues soon.

This first hour will be a great time for call in's. I hope to have some chat function up on the blog by showtime.

We are working on video as people have requested. This will happen thanks to lots of offered help from JL of Mugshots and Rich from Icomp, among many others. It will be a few weeks as I am leaving between the next two shows to head down south for family reasons.

I would like to thank Crissew, who we will also play during this first hour. Crissew put us in contact with Feter McBlues. Crissew is a musician and collaborator whom has done some collaborating with McBlues across many many borders.

So tune in 6-8pm. www.freakradio.org and locally at 101.1 FM.

Until then....

Mugshots

The Tangerine Dream Team

We were invited to be on a podcast by jl, who has a great show, Mugshots. We were proud to participate. Here is the show. Enjoy! Thanks Jl and all the great listeners. I had a great time. We look forward to working more of the many musicians who have responded already. You can tune into Mugshots yourself every week! Links to the show and schedule are posted on the right sidebar. Riders on the storm

Oct 13th Archive

Pre show fun! The Who audio documentary.
partial - 30 min nearly all uninterrupted

Remove Formatting from selection

Our last show played in the midst of a huge downpour, flooded streets, power outages, downed trees, but the studio stayed up all day and night.
Unfortunately we were unable to play Shadowofnine's Hour of Music. We have rescheduled for next week. Shadowofnine puts great effort into his work. He sent a high quality file that we were unable to play with our current setup. We look forward to playing it properly next week. Its a great hour and we are proud to play it. I put a shout out to fellow musicians to post something they wanted aired. This was the result. This was something we had planned for a future show, but was thankful for the responses. It ended up a fun evening.
I would like to thank fellow host Coral Reef, who in times of... what could be crisis remains calm and has been great training me as a new host.

Mostly we both want to thank Shadowofnine for his patience, and especially the musicians who posted songs as we asked for them, basically steering the majority of the show. Tadk and baphillipsiv from Icompositions. They came through as well as Vegetal and O who have been on before. We also played Teaksta and Mauro. I will be posting more links and the archive soon.
From 6-7pm we played a Who Audio Documentary I will also post that here soon. We come in at 6pm and play other music related media every week prior to the show, so, tune in for the full two hours. 6-8pm

The video cast test worked but needs some work. A bit of hum and chat issues. But we were able to video the studio while we worked and hope to post some of that soon. Some folks from Icompositions are aiding me in this endeavor. I am very thankful to all of their help with our new show. We look forward to being guests on the cool podcast Wed the 14th at 5pm. Tune in!

Peace
Tim and Coral

Who is that bird?

People keep asking me about Blue who is on several of our pics in posts. He loves music and hangs our often on my guitar as I play. Blue is my compainion. Rescued at 1 or two days old, I have had him for 11 years. He sings and dances! Here is a short video of him. The music is my very first attempt to use Reason. My first attempt at making music without a real instrument. Ill stick to the guitar. It amazes me what others can do with such software.

Christian Raphael just sent this out via e-mail to Coral. Were glad he passed it on. He did not ask us to post this. This we are proud to post and hope you take these words to heart. This is what part of what music and this show is about. He speaks of collaborating in a sense, as many of you do to make your music.

oOo stayed up till 3 am. in Portugal and called in to thank us and that was more than kind of him. His voice on Everybody Hurts was fantastic. Carla also called in and we appreciate her and her wonderful voice. She is a gem. We will soon be expanding our time. This will allow us to take more time with artists and take more calls on air. We would have liked to have played more of everyone, but time is short. The show will evolve.

From about 6:15 till 7:00 pm Coral and I played through approx 60 Bottles of Beer while playing 99 Bottles of Beer on The Wall in dedication to Uncle D, the 56 minute collaborated version. A long time host returned from parts unknown -- were glad Uncle Denis is back. Uncle D has a Brew of the Week on his show The Cream to the Dregs. Not any ole brew will do. This is top shelf beer. The bottle collection in the studio is getting big. I have promised to not mess with his bottles if he puts me on the mailing list and gives me a schedule. "I want my umpa lumpa now!"

Here is the archive, bloopers included. Click Here To Listen. If you can't stream it, right click and choose " Save link to download the entire show as an mp3.

Below are a the artists from our show. We love sharing their art with you .

The Hot Toddies!

Formed in 2004 while relaxing on a beach in Mexico, heavily under the influence of Tecate and tequila. Heidi and Erin began writing songs, and Jessica and Sylvia joined the band in the fall of 2005. Blending 60's pop, doo-wop, and beautiful harmonies, they are a fun loving group of four girls from Oakland who play drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards and sing charmingly about being bad.

Christian Raphael

Christian Raphael spent over 20 years in Corporate America. This came to an abrupt end January 2008. While shocking and a bit “distressful” like many blessings they often come disguised as struggle.

For the past several years, Christian has been writing songs; “Songs That Really Happened”. In other words, looking back on the years gone by for writing material.

Christian says “Hey, if it happened to me then it probably has happened to someone else along the way as well. If I can write a lyric, hook, or chorus, and perform it in earnest so that someone in the audience connects to the meaning, then I’ve done my job for that show”.

“I believe that the world is a pretty small place and that we make it seem really big at times with our perceived differences and disagreements. That’s why I write “Songs That Really Happened”. Note by note, word by word, song by song, the world becomes a little bit smaller, and we all get just a little bit closer”.

Frances Miller

For me, music is a pathway to beauty – truth – transformation – joy.

I am continually amazed by the ways music opens the door to profound connections – bridging the gap between individuals, cultures,
past and present, female and male, sorrow and joy, earth and sky,
mind, heart and soul. Creative expression is my medicine.

Mike True
Mike True is a local musician. He has several independent CD's out. He is very concerned and active around and social & political issues. We will be playing more of Mike True soon. One CD I found to be very good is a solo album "Me and My Guitars", where he takes the time to speak the truth about his feelings on our social and political climate. We may have to a whole show on Mike True. He has plays with The Phantom Band on several Cd's his music and message to New Orleans after the Hurricane. Mike True can be contacted at mstrue1@hotmail.com

Mauro

I am a multi-media artist, making my living creating music, videos, graphics. I am the editor and publisher of First Issues, a people’s newspaper publication. I also founded and sit on the board of SOL Communications Inc, a non-profit dedicated to raising environmental and social awareness and executing on the ground activism to defend the natural world. Carla J Patterson

Songwriter, composer, arranger Carla has amazing talent and just as sweet as a person you could hope to meet. She has an amazing website of art of all kinds as well as an arsenal of music. From Jazz ,New Age, Childcare's Music, Spoken Word, Blues, Classical and more, Carla has done allot of great music and artistic projects. I found this website while looking at her profile. http://www.carlacryptic.com/ - very cool site for anyone who loves art of all kinds. Check it out. Send her some art via snail mail & she will send some back to you! To start enjoying her music now click on her name or the link http://www.icompositions.com/artists/carlajpatterson/index.php

Synesthesia

We will be listening to some Synesthesia who sent some great music, featured in the picture above. Click on the picture or name to find out more about Synesthesia.

We will also be hearing some great music from oOo

oOo is a dutch artists who now lives in the north of Portugal. A professional dancer, a provoking dragqueen, an actor (in theater), a choreographer and slightly involved in many other creative artistic projects that found his way. Although musically involved at the moment, o0o likes to call him self a creative human being instead of an artist. His never resting mind is always seeking new stuff and exploring the inspiration he gets from it then expressing it through ways that are available to him. Like doing a radio/tv show on Ustream called Victor's Vault... another medium he discovered and uses. We look forward to playing oOo. You can find his music by clicking here.

Jl

Jl is a great musician, Producer of MUGshots & iCweekly.

We Look forward to spinning his tunes. Going to be a great show!

Tune in an hour early for some fun musical audio documentary and in studio fun.

The first 20 minutes were recorded but the rest of the file was corrupt. Coral is rushing down to the studio to see if we can recover it as I am writing this. So, for now I have completed the entire show as much as I am able until we recover the first show. Missing is the wonderful call in's and of course the wonderful Coral Reef who hosts with me. We will do our best to get the original file. These things happen sometimes, sad it had to be on our first show. We will be Pod-casting soon and I will be making additions to this site, including an active current schedule of Free Radio, a stream link and other items to make things easier. Thanks and hope you enjoy our first show. We ended with Guitarmy playing live the song Kashmir which is available here in past post.

Recently they rocked out on the big stage at the Santa Cruz County Fair. Host Coral Brune attended the show and was impressed by their talent and stage presence. The entire audience seemed to agree. Guitarmy is 11 students of Musicscool, a school of rock in Santa Cruz 'led" by guitarist Dale Ockerman, featuring bassist Tiran Porter, drum instructor Dave Tucker, guitarist Dylan Rosenberg, and a small army of guitar students and vocalists, ages 11 to 19. PRODUCED By: KARRI THYGERSEN & DIRECTED BY: MARK HALFMOON

We will be playing some of GuitArmy on our first show as well as a diverse mix of both local and worldwide music.
