A Passing - I started this show because I love music. I have never been very good at writing lyrics, unless it was something that really affected my life directly. There were only two songs I wrote all the lyrics to, both were about Amy.
Amy and I were very close. We met long ago when we were in our mid 20's. She was a loving mother of two. She was silly, fun, honest and worked harder than you can imagine to make sure her children were well cared for, and they always were. Sadly, Amy passed away on Thanksgiving, suddenly due to illness. My thoughts and prayers go out to her children, family and friends. I wanted to do a special show last Tuesday but was just not there yet. Coral did an outstanding job doing a special 1 hour, of fun, music & poetry. I want to thank her for such a kind gesture that means a great deal to me. Poetry was part of Amy's life. Next week we will be having featuring a local group, Sweet Jam. I will be posting more on them shortly. We are also planning a Reggae show soon, so send in your tunes. We have had allot of musicians and bands submitting their works, and we encourage people to continue.
We are proud to have feature Feter McBlues on Free Radio Santa. Feter makes music that truly breaks down borders. Feter collaborates daily with other musicians around the globe from Syria.
Feter fled to Syria after the war broke out in Iraq. His dream after loosing everything to the war and forced to flee Iraq for his own safety, to come to America. He has a deep love for 60's music, folk, blues, rock and classical. He has over 70 songs on Macjams.
Feter is a rare forgiving compassionate person I am proud to have as a new friend. He has consistently reminded and reinforced how small this world truly is to me. His attitude and optimism is truly something that amazes me.
Feter is working on a new CD due to come out in 2010, a collection of folk songs with a special flavor, Feter and Roxy Lee 'Love Love Love'

The Welfare Poets are a collective of activists, educators, and artists together since 1990. Through teaching residencies and workshops, through activism around community struggles and through sharp-edged performances of music that incorporates Hip Hop, Bomba y Plena, Latin Jazz and other rhythms, the Welfare Poets bring information and inspiration to those facing oppression and those fighting for liberation.
We are rescheduling Christian Raphael for next week, November the 10th, when we will have access to more of his tunes. He is traveling and it worked out better for all. Tonight we will be rebroadcasting one hour from the twilight hour 6-7pm where Coral and I sometimes come in and host an extra hour prior to the normal show. This hour will include Crissew, Bad day to Stop Drinking, Feter Mcblues, ( The Blues Man of Baghdad) The Raging Grannies and The Barbra Lopez group, a great local Jazz group. I appreciate everyone's patience this week as I was out of town helping with a family health crisis. I will return everyone's emails as I get caught up today. Last month he sent us the message below. This is what part of what music and this show is about. He speaks of collaborating in a sense, as many of you do to make your music. Tune in this upcoming Tuesday.
Good evening good people around the world. As a reminder, the purpose of Free Downloads of “Songs That Really Happened”™ is to spread positive vibes around the planet at ZERO cost to the listener. That’s right, NO COST to the listener. You will never be spammed.
This is a major 180-degree difference between what we are doing and what the major record labels are doing. We can do this for free because our overhead costs are next to nothing.
Just Imagine, if one itty bitty bit of a lyric from “Songs That Really Happened” ™ inspired someone to do something positive for someone else, and they caught the idea that it was GIVEN to them at zero cost, then slowly the over-all calibration of the human goodness quotient would rise, and we’d start a chain reaction of goodness that couldn’t be stopped. It's like people helping people helping people. Geeez, what a concept.
I am asking for your help—no I do not want money. What I want is for each of you to invite at least 10 people to join, and go out and download “Songs That Really Happened” ™. Tell them to invite at least 10 of their friends to do so too.
So far, “Songs That Really Happened” ™ have been downloaded in over 65 Countries around the world. Keep checking back on the home page of the group for new updates. The group has been running for about 6 months now.

We had a small hiccup during the first 5 min and had to switch CD players. Uncle D from The Cream to The Dregs called to assist and tell me all the in and outs and glitches of our many CD Players. I appreciated his help as a new host.

The Shadow Hour - Click here - this is the untarnished hour he sent in, which I suggest for listening, it is what he presented to us. There is some really great music very well put together. I particularly liked a band that sounded like Yes. I am going to have to find out more about them. Will be posting an archive which includes our lead in and my tech problem in all its glory as broadcast! Missing is basically five minutes of music due to a glitch in a semi new/used CD Player that seems to hate me on some deep personal level. I am severing my relationship with that player.
